Automated vehicles on Apple’s radar

Is Apple about to make a move into the automotive industry with self-drive cars?
A letter written to US transport regulators by the company suggests that could be the case, The Independent reports.
The letter, written by its director of product integrity Steve Kenner, states the company is “excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation”.
“Executed properly under National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s guidance, automated vehicles have the potential to greatly enhance the human experience – to prevent millions of car crashes and thousands of fatalities each year and to give mobility to those without,” he writes.
Kenner says in the letter that established companies and new entrants into the market should be treated equally, with limited restrictions on the testing of self-driver cars.
