EECA gets new chief executive

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) is getting a new boss, but not the replacement it announced in October.

Current EECA chief executive Mike Underhill previously announced his retirement and was to be succeeded by James Hay.

However, Andrew Caseley will now take up the role, with Hay dropping out due to personal circumstances.

“We were fortunate to have the choice of two outstanding candidates, and I’m pleased Andrew Caseley has accepted the role,” says EECA chair Tom Campbell.

Andrew Caseley has held executive leadership roles in both the public and private sectors. For the past 10 years he has worked for MWH, a global engineering and environmental consultancy.

He was also previously chief executive of the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council for 13 years.

“Through both these roles, Andrew has gained considerable experience in working with the energy sector, particularly around renewable energy infrastructure,” says Campbell.

He joins EECA on 24 January.
