Tesla chargers for 31 Australian shopping centres

Tesla’s announcement to have its electric vehicle (EV) chargers at 31 Australian shopping centres follows its offer of a year’s free home charging for new owners.

The announcements indicate Australia is becoming an increasingly important market for the company.

Tesla has announced a partnership with the Stockland Group to deploy chargers at 31 shopping centres across the country, Electrek reports.

Stockland says it’s investing $200,000 in chargers at its shopping centres from Cairns to Melbourne.

“We know EV vehicles are part of the future and we look forward to offering more features like this to meet continuing Australian demand,” Stockland Group executive and commercial property John Schroder says.

Tesla drivers will be able to get a charge for free at those locations, which will be using the Tesla wall connector.

The EV car maker is also offering one year of free charging at home with AGL Energy, so long as the customer buys their new Tesla Model S or Model X before July 31 and takes up the AGL Electric Car Plan before August 31.

Those with orders who haven’t had delivery are also eligible.
