Arsonists set Teslas alight

Two Tesla’s parked 100 metres from each other have been set on fire in a deliberate arson attack in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

One of the Tesla owners caught the arsonists on camera, having been woken by the sound of car alarms going off, but according to police the vehicles are written-off.

The owner who briefly caught the assailants on camera had only recently taken ownership.

“I only had him for four months,” the Dutchman told Amsterdam News. “My wife woke me because the car’s alarm went off. We soon realised that it was a fire because of the smoke and smell. The children were sleeping, so we were shocked.”

Another witness is adamant the arsonists targeted the expensive Model S and Model X.

“That’s no coincidence…it’s an expensive car,” they say. “One was here, I saw it from my balcony, the other around the corner,” the witness adds.

“It is clearly focused on the Teslas. Maybe they think they have too expensive cars?”

The owner managed to present images of two arsonists to police, describing them as “apparently not someone who is a fan of progress”.
