Tesla owners get top spot
Tesla owners were treated to a prime location on the Waitemata Harbour over Auckland Anniversary weekend.
Model S and Model X owners with family and friends enjoyed an enviable view of the Vector Lights show by boarding a barge ferry to watch from the centre of the harbour.
The Vector Lights spectacle was also powered by a 250kW/500kWh Tesla Powerpack system under the Auckland Council and Vector Limited energy joint 10-year “smart energy” partnership.
Over 100 people were aboard to see the world-first solar, battery and peer-to-peer powered light show, which included significant tributes to Maori tribal culture both in the lighting effects and the soundtrack it was set to. A brief reference to the classic Atari game Pong also featured in the set. The soundtrack was broadcast on Coast 105.4FM and overall the show went from 9:10pm and 9:30pm.
Roughly 30 Teslas were aboard two Sealink ferries for the harbour voyage, with food and drinks available.
