Driverless Kiwi vehicle displayed

Kiwi autonomous vehicle company Ohmio Automotion displayed a fully operational test vehicle at the Digital Nations 2030 event in Auckland.

Conferenz and NZTech hosted the conference on February 19 and 20 at The Cordis Hotel (formerly the Langham) with international experts joined by digital leaders from throughout New Zealand’s government and industry for talks on actions needed to create a truly digital nation by 2030.

Founded in New Zealand, Ohmio has developed world-leading autonomous vehicle (AV) technology and expects to have its first self-driving electric vehicle completed by June.

Ohmio aims to take on the international market, so the conference is an ideal showcase for it.

It will have a fully operational Ohmio Hop test vehicle there, the smallest in a planned range of electric, self-driving passenger or freight vehicles.

The first commercially-ready one under construction is an Ohmio Lift. It can carry up to 12 passengers as a “last mile” transport solution designed to lead to greater uptake of mass public transport and to improve freight distribution by efficiently moving people and goods from transport hubs to their final destination.

Such solutions are predicted to help reduce private vehicle numbers.
