PSA Groupe forms specialist EV unit

PSA Groupe has formed a standalone unit dedicated to electric-vehicles.
Alexandre Guignard has been appointed senior vice-president of the Low Emission Vehicles Business Unit and will lead initiatives to help meet the group’s CO2 targets.
PSA Groupe says it’s a step towards developing an electric offering covering its entire range by 2025, with implementation starting in 2019.
Established on April 1, the unit is designed to “respond to the challenges of the energy transition and to build an efficient and coherent offering of electric mobility solutions”, the parent company of Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel/Vauxhall and the Free2move mobility brand says.
Citroen chief executive officer Linda Jackson says the challenge is to provide the “best vehicles at the best time to satisfy our customers” and ensure the best economic conditions for launching the group’s EVs into the market.
The unit will have global scope and be responsible for defining the group’s EV strategy and rolling out related products and services.
