Prince Charles shopping for an EV

Prince Charles wants an electric car for the royal fleet.

The Duke of Cornwall and heir to the throne is keen to see the royal car collection become more eco-friendly.

He’s been shopping around for an EV, Metro

reports.

In April he tried a Jaguar I-Pace and has also been reported to have driven a Tesla Model S after making friends with Kimbal Musk, brother of Tesla founder Elon Musk.

‘’There is definitely a plan for us to incorporate electric cars into the royal fleet,” a Clarence House source told Metro. Clarence House is the official residence of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The prince is keen on environmental issues.

Last week, he spoke about plastic pollution. His vehicles run on 100% biodiesel made from used cooking oil and among the royal fleet is an Aston Martin Volante which uses wine-based fuel.

Jaguar Land Rover, which holds a royal warrant, is in discussions around a royal EV. The royal fleet includes three Rolls-Royces, three Daimlers, two Bentleys and some Volkswagen support cars.
