The electric avenue at Big Boy Toys is a celebration of all things electric. Last year, over 2000 EV test rides and drives were completed.

Event director Dean Wilson says the electric avenue was a huge success last year and was the largest EV event staged to a consumer audience in New Zealand.

bigboy1“Big Boy Toys has always embraced innovation and made the commitment at last year’s show to embrace the EV resolution,” says Wilson.

The electric avenue allows companies to showcase their electric products to over 32,000 people.

bigboy2Wilson says the electric avenue brings the EV sector to Big Boy Toys and signals to the public that electric vehicles are now a mainstream automotive option.

Touchpoll found that 96% of respondents gave a strong satisfaction rating, and 97% of visitors would recommend the show to others.

Electric avenue works with the team at ChargeNet NZ to:

  • Build awareness in “all things electric” through displays and presentations
  • Create interest in converting to EV through displays, awareness and test drives
  • Create desire for people to purchase “all things electric”

bigboy4“Exhibiting in the electric avenue allows the opportunity to be involved in test drive and rides for EVs, plus an e-bike trial area for e-bikes, e-scooters and e-skateboards,” adds Wilson.

This year’s slogan is ‘See It, Like It, Own It”.

    Big Boys Toys – REALLY ????? It’s 2019.

  2. Hydrogen Electric vehicles appear to be a possibility to advance in parallel with Battery Electric powered vehicles. While more different than petrol and diesel are, Hydrogen/Battery Electric power differences will suit different transport needs in different regions.
Hopefully full attention will be given to developments in both systems as neither one or the other will necessarily be the best way forward.
