A video of a Tesla Model S catching on fire whilst parked has gone viral.
A parked Model S in a garage started to emit smoke before bursting into flames in Shanghai on Sunday 21 April.
Tesla issued a statement on Monday saying they have sent a team on site to investigate what happened.
“We are actively liaising with the relevant departments and cooperating with the verification of the situation,” says Tesla’s official response on Weibo, China’s version of Twitter.
No one was hurt in the fire, Tesla reports.
An aftermath video released by @ShanghaiJayin shows the Model S and the cars next to it wrecked.
