EVworld 2019 champion awards open

Entries have opened for the EVworld NZ 2019 champion awards.

It’s part of the EVworld NZ electric vehicle industry and public expo on August 1-3 at the ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane, Auckland.

The 2019 award categories are: Most EV friendly Town of the Year, EV Champion of the Year, Fleet Champion of the Year and EV Sales & Service Award.

Entries close June 14 and finalists are announced on July 1, the awards presented on August 1.

The EVworld expo is shaping up very well with key auto manufacturers confirmed so far as Hyundai, Renault, VW and Fuso, organiser Conferenz sponsorship general manager Dominic Duncan says.

Some exhibitors are increasing their display space this year, while enquiries are coming in daily from all corners of the EV spectrum, he adds.

EVtalk will again have a stand there.

“A major change is the move to a two-day industry conference as there is so much to cover,” Duncan says.

These include new EVs, innovation in the sector, incentives and initiatives to increase EV uptake, developments in EV charging, batteries and recycling, electrification of fleets and heavy vehicles, electric ferries and aviation and more.

Duncan says great prizes and special offers are available this year too.

More than 4400 visitors attended last year’s Auckland show, and Duncan expects even more this time.

Nearly 280 organisations were represented at the industry day, about 800 people attended seminars, while about 400 drove EVs and 325 took EV rides.

Electric bikes and scooters are likely to be even more popular this year with 765 taking rides on them at the last show.

The free trade/industry day is on August 2 and a free public day is on August 3, 9am-5pm.
