US start-up ChRget is crowdfunding from June 3 to get a “self-adjusting” EV charger out with 32 plug adaptors enabling it to work in 200 countries.

First presented at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, the charger has been selected to prime EVs in the 6500km Electric Marathon 2020 Star Race from Dubai to Budapest and Monte Carlo starting October 21.

The ChRget team has five years of experience in technical support for the rally in Monaco, organised by Prince Albert II.

ChRget Inc. was founded by EV fan, inventor and design engineer Vlad Rodin in 2020 in Claymont, Delaware and will launch its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to raise about US$50,000 by July 17 and release its first version of the charger by the end of this year.

Kickstarter project rewards include the EV charger with various plug adapters and cables, suitable for 200 countries and the campaign will enable all interested EV owners to pre-order their charger, the company says.

ChRget’s software uses geolocation to define the local network parameters and set an electricity consumption threshold that is safe for the car and wiring. When the car is connected to a power network, a self-adaptive system tests the wiring to select the optimal voltage.

It charges any EV model and a mobile app provides remote monitoring and control.
