Mini Countryman PHEV details released

Mini New Zealand has introduced the new Countryman range here with the new Mini Countryman plug-in hybrid (PHEV) now capable of more than 60km all-electric range and priced from $64,790.

Available at launch in four variants, the new Mini Countryman promises practicality and go-kart performance for the everyday urbanite, with up to 1275 litres of cargo space and up to 225kW of power with ALL4 intelligent all-wheel drive available on selected models.

The popular urban SUV features new aesthetic updates, mechanical upgrades and connectivity improvements while retaining its signature design and hallmark British character in the premium compact segment.

A redesigned radiator grille with Mini’s signature hexagonal contours joins a new front and rear bumper design. LED lighting technology is now a standard feature across the range, and at the rear, new light graphics trace the outline of a Union Jack motif, bringing the new Countryman in line with this distinct identification unique to all Mini models.

The interior features a new 5.5-inch digital instrument display, a large 8.8-inch infotainment screen, an expanded suite of Mini Connected features in line with the app and wireless Apple CarPlay integration.

“We anticipate strong interest in the new Countryman, a clear favourite in the Mini range, and look forward to delivering signature British charm, go-kart thrills and value-added practicality for our Mini fans.”

The Countryman PHEV has 9.6kWh battery capacity, a CCS Type 2 plug and can charge to 80% in under five hours on a domestic AC 1.8kW supply and less than three hours on both a Mini Wallbox and a public AC 7kW supply.

Mini can supply a Wallbox home charging kit for a cost, but the current lead time on the Wallbox is about three months.

The Countryman comes with a standard home charging cable (Type 2 to domestic wall socket). Public charging cables (Type 2 to Type 2) are available as an accessory from Aftersales.

PHEV Countryman specs include a three-cylinder petrol engine using 2.4-litres per 100km a six-speed automatic transmission, driving modes Sport, Mid, Green and Green+; All4 intelligent all-wheel drive system, Piano Black Line Exterior – headlights surround, bezels around rear lights, front grille frame, door handles and model designation in Piano Black; 18-inch light-alloy wheels with run-flat tyres, a John Cooper Works steering wheel, Forward Collision Warning with visual and audio warning signal, plus braking pre-conditioning; leather cross punch sports seats for driver and front passenger in Carbon Black, Piano Black interior surfaces, radiator grille in Black surround with Black honeycomb insert and S designation, and side scuttles in chrome, Mini Electric design with integrated turn indicators.
