Welcome to the February 2021 EVs and Beyond magazine
EV interest is cranking up.
Our EVs and Beyond Conference on Electric Island Waiheke, March 1 and 2, is generating enthusiasm with a programme of expert speakers.
Of course, there’s plenty to discuss with the government making emissions announcements and the Climate Change Commission issuing its draft advice suggesting phasing out light ICE imports by 2032.
Commission chair Dr Rod Carr is among the speakers, so conference goers can hear his view firsthand.
And that’s just the tip of the ICEberg.
You can read more about all this, including the reaction, in our bumper February issue.
We list all 22 successful applicants in the EECA administered low emission vehicles contestable fund, plus how much they got for their various projects.
You can read about the MG ZS EV and why we’re buying it, check out the new Hyundai Kona Electric and learn why Martin Harwood has left his EV business after more than 50 years in the automotive trade.
Evnex has released its latest EV chargers, and you can read more about what the Christchurch-based company is doing – including its global aspirations.
E-mobility expert Adrian Duque is among those suggesting government-to-consumer incentives are key for EV adoption here, and we have the low down on composites to save weight in EVs.
Tauranga-based electric motorcycle maker UBCO aims to raise more than $25 million to fund its global expansion, while ITSNZ wades into the climate change debate.
EV dealerships are seeing growing interest but reckon the Government should get going with an action plan to help EV uptake.
Turners talks about adding more EVs to its subscription fleet, and we look at global advances in the EV-related space and check out highlights here during the past month.
All that and more will help EVs and Beyond keep the EV discussion going and put pressure on the Government to back its talk.
See you at the conference.

Hi,
In the recent article regarding the blue MG ZS EV, the writer mentions a range issue with the updated version that is not in the UK spec they have in their possession. Do you know if this range issue effects the new NZ ZS EV’s delivered November last year?
We have one of first units delivered and have done over 5000kms now, I have noticed we are not getting the range reported by UK and Asian owners. I am currently recording all trips with estimated range versus actual to get a better understanding on the variation.
Thanks Graeme
