More e-trucks were on show this year, including some of SEA Electric’s lineup (it will feature its full e-truck range at the Brisbane Truck Show, May 13-16), Alsco’s long-haul freighter, an Etruck, and the Fuso eCanter, while conference case studies considered FoodStuffs NZ’s electric freight fleet, Toll NZ’s electric preparations, and electric buses like the Mahu City Express.

EV dealerships such as Auckland City Electric Vehicles and Audi NZ in conjunction with ABB had plenty of foot traffic with people viewing the latest in the Audi electric range and more.

Transport minister Michael Wood addressed the conference on May 7 but didn’t provide any time frames for possible Government action on EV policies and incentives, while Norwegian EV Association secretary general Christina Bu launched the conference’s first day with a livestream around Norway’s EV experience and what New Zealand could learn.

Panel discussions included calls for urgent action on e-mobility, and Kiwi rally ace Hayden Paddon talked about his move to electric rally racing, his car based on a Hyundai Kona Electric featuring in Hyundai’s expo display.

The chance to view the Ioniq 5 at the May 08 EV Show in Henderson was our first. Some of the caution re EVs adoption is the manufacturing commitment of companies to back their new technology.
Hyundai do this, both now and in the past. My experience with a Terracan had an engine issue under warranty, and Hyundai fixed the problem, a significant manufacturing glitch, without issue.
We have an Ioniq 5 on order and confident this CUV will be brilliant and backed by a marque who want customer satisfaction from their products.
