Damp start to Northland EV road trip

The delayed Northland Road Trip for about six EVs under the Better NZ Trust from April 18-23 has seen a small number of people check out the EVs parked in the rain outside Matakohe’s Kauri Museum.
The northern loop was rescheduled from October 2021 because of COVID-19 restrictions and is billed as “a holiday in EVs”.
After lunching at the Gumdigger Café in Matakohe, Better NZ Trust chair Kathryn Trounson says they caught up with New Plymouth’s Electricarna organiser Stephen Hobo-Tuck at Dargaville who recently held two EV seminars in Taranaki after the 2022 Electricarna event was cancelled because of pandemic restrictions.
The EV tour then takes in Trounson Kauri Park and Waipoua Kauri Forest, staying overnight at Opononi, then on April 20 proceeding via ferry to Kohukohu and on to Herekino, Ahipara and Kaitaia.
On April 21 the tour covers the Karikari Peninsula, Mangonui and stays two nights in Kerikeri, returning to Auckland via Whangarei on April 23.
