Video: Aptera EV nears production
Aptera Motors has finished its first Solar Mobility Tour to colleges and universities along the California coast to introduce its solar-powered EV to college students, meet reservation holders, find innovators to join Aptera’s growing team, and allow people to experience Aptera first-hand.
It was back on the road at the Electrify Expo in Long Beach from June 3-5 and lists on Aptera’s new events page where it will be in coming months.
Meanwhile, Aptera is preparing to start ramping up production later this year, marketing initially in the US with plans to go global.
US automotive engineer Sandy Munro checked Aptera’s progress at its final assembly location, Aptera also announcing it has finalised several supply agreements in May.
It will source distributed drive platform technologies from Elaphe, a technology leader for in-wheel powertrains, and this agreement includes a detailed plan to scale production to high series in Slovenia and then extend production to the US.
A supply agreement and collaborative partnership with industry leader Yazaki has been announced by Aptera, Yazaki serving as an engineering service supplier and line prototype and production part supplier.
A supply agreement with RedViking for all automated guided vehicles for Aptera’s final vehicle assembly helps scale to the final production stage.
The Aptera team finished the production-intent battery design for the first vehicles that will be coming off Aptera’s manufacturing line. These will have 41kWh of usable energy, 643km range, and six battery modules.
Aptera’s shape has been further refined to increase aerodynamics and reduce drag.
Aptera Motors has retained Marathon Capital, the leading Cleantech US investment bank, to facilitate the company’s proposed Series B capital raise up to US$200 million.
Full scale production of Apetera’s solar EV is planned in 2023, the company announcing 23,000 vehicle pre-orders, representing potential future revenue of more than US$800 million.
