New Mercedes-Benz CLA with 350kW charging
Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce its CLA four-door sedan under an “electric-first” strategy, possibly next year.
A concept car previewing the 2025 EV is expected to debut at the 2023 International Motor Schow in Germany (Munich) September 5-10.
Britain’s Autocar says the Mercedes-Benz CLA will come in two variants, starting with the all-electric version, followed about six months later by a mild-hybrid and only in select markets.
It will be on the Mercedes modular architecture (MMA) platform, engineered to work with an 800-volt battery pack that can accept up to 350kW when charging and top-up from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
The CLA EV is reported to likely have front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants.
It’s expected to have a new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
Suggestions include a longer body than the present model (about 4.7 metres) and it was seen testing recently.
Further details are likely to be available closer to the launch.
