MG 4 pricing confirmed

With the New Zealand release of the MG4 imminent, a price guide has gone up on the NZ MG EV Owners Group Facebook page.

It puts the price of the MG4 64kWh Excite at $51,990 (450km range), the 64kWh Essence at $54,990 (435km range) and the 77kWh Essence Long Range at $63,990 (530km range), since confirmed by MG Motor New Zealand.

It indicates a $812 per kWh industry record.

All models in the range qualify for the full Clean Car rebate.

The electric hatchback is the first to use the innovative new modular scalable platform (MSP) that will underpin a new generation of MGs, featuring rear-wheel drive, 50:50 weight distribution and thin battery technology.

The MSP design creates great storage, cabin and boot space – 1177 litres with seats folded and 363 litres with seats in place.

“We believe the MG4 will be the reason for many more people to make the switch to fully electric vehicle thanks to an impressive range of 530km WLTP from the 77kWh battery, outstanding driving dynamics courtesy of 50:50 weight distribution – plus the fact it’s one of the best looking new EV’s available,” says MG New Zealand country manager Patrick Bourke.

“This remarkably affordable range of battery options gives customers the opportunity to find their most suitable driving specification and price point.”

The 64kWh battery is also capable of recharging at up to 138kW, meaning a charge time of 28 minutes from 10%-80% using a 150kW DC rapid charger.

The MG4 EV also carries MG’s seven-year unlimited kilometre warranty as standard.

Two choices of two battery options are offered – 64kWh (Standard Range) and 77kWh (Long Range) with 51kWh and X-Power dual-motor AWD variant under consideration to join the rest of the range closer to launch in H2 2023.

MG Pilot advanced driver assistance is standard on both the 64kWh and 77kWh Essence, with blind spot detection, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert and door opening warning.

The MG4’s iSMART system integrates car, internet, and user communication, now with voice activation and remote-control features on Essence models.

A four-speaker audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard, with an upgraded six-speaker 3D system on Essence models.

Integrated, interacting dual screen technology with configurable seven-inch driver display and 10.25-inch floating infotainment screen

Essence models gain satellite navigation, 360-degree parking cameras, height adjustable loading floor, wireless phone charging, Bluetooth and an auto-dimming rear view mirror.

The EV has sophisticated aerodynamics and distinctive style, with 17-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels with aero covers on the 64kWh Excite and 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels with aero covers on the 64kWh Essence and 77kWh Essence.

Six exterior colour options are offered – Dover White, Brixton Blue, Black Pearl (Metallic), Camden Grey (Metallic), Dynamic Red (Tri-Coat) and Volcano Orange (Tri-Coat), Sterling Silver.
