The Green Party has apologised after its campaign team’s electric vehicle (EV) got stuck at a sodden Lower Hutt park, ripping up grass and leaving tyre marks during extraction.

Local resident Tony contacted AM, saying while heading to work on Saturday he came across what he believed to be a group of boy racers in an EV.

“ thinking to myself, ‘wow they moved with the times’,” Newshub reports.

A Green Party spokesperson thanked Tony for bringing it to their attention and said the party makes “every effort to minimise the environmental impact of our billboards”, Newshub adds.

“[We] apologise for the damage done on this occasion.”

The spokesperson says the local team returned to sort the ruts and sow grass seed, reporting their actions to the council as well.
