Hyundai establishes EV global design division
Hyundai Motor Group’s global design division for EVs, future mobility, robotics and advanced air mobility (AAM) will be led by chief design officer and president Luc Donckerwolke.
It will spearhead Hyundai’s efforts to pioneer future design trends to transform the global mobility industry and will encompass the Hyundai and Genesis Global Design Technical Unit and the Kia Global Design Technical Unit.
A new Genesis Design Centre will focus on design that enhances brand’s position as a leader in the global luxury segment.
Donckerwolke retains his current role as chief creative officer (CCO) while leading all design creatives aspects for Hyundai brands including future mobility, AAM and robotics.
“In my 32-year career as a car designer, my achievements were often enabled by my organisation’s teamwork,” he says.
“I believe it is my role to create an environment in which designers can be creative and lead transformations.”
Hyundai vice president Simon Loasby, who previously led projects establishing design visions for the Hyundai Ioniq lineup and N brand, has been appointed Hyundai Design Centre head, the newly established centre to be led by vice president Ilhun Yoon who is known for his work on the Genesis X Trilogy and current Genesis line-up design as well as the future design vision of the Genesis brand. Yoon will focus on creating designs that elevate Genesis’ customer experience.
