Cadillac Optiq EV global debut In China

General Motors’ Cadillac Optiq had its global debut at the Guangzhou auto show, becoming the fourth EV in the brand’s range after the Lyriq, Celestiq and Escalade IQ.

It is among nearly 470 EVs to feature at the show from November 17-26, including BYD, Geely’s Zeekr and Link and Co, Xpeng Motors’s X9, Li Auto’s Mega, and Nio.

“The world unveil of the all-new Cadillac Optiq represents our full commitment to further expand the IQ EV family and pivot to an all-electric future,” says Cadillac China vice president Tim Heile.

“As the world’s largest EV market, China is strategically important for Cadillac.

“By the end of next year, Cadillac will introduce more new EVs in China as the brand strives to fulfill customers’ diverse preferences and reinvent luxury mobility.”

The Optiq is expected to begin production and go on sale in China early 2024 and is likely in other markets as a 2025 model.

It is anticipated the Optiq could join the Cadillac Lyriq EV in New Zealand and Australia.

A GM Australia New Zealand spokesperson says the Lyriq is the first in a portfolio of EVs for Australia and New Zealand. 

“But Lyriq is the only model we are confirming at the moment and we do not comment regarding future product.”
