ChargeNet adds another six Vector charging stations to its Auckland network
ChargeNet has acquired a further six Vector’s public EV-charging sites in Auckland to be integrated into its user-pays network from March 8, alongside the previous eight sites announced in February, bringing the total number to 14.
The additional six sites are Auckland Airport Shopping Centre, Kumeu New World, Silverdale Kings Plant Barn, Oneroa, Kennedy Point, and Surfdale on Waiheke Island.
The charging stations were purchased following negotiations with Vector and individual site owners
ChargeNet will integrate the additional sites into its established network, working with Vector to provide a seamless experience for existing users. EV motorists will have to pay to use these chargers from Match 8 onwards.
Customers must set up a ChargeNet account to use the sites. If they already have a ChargeNet fob, they can continue using it as usual.
ChargeNet says that moving to a paid model for the chargers will allow it to make investments and improvements at popular sites, which benefits all EV drivers.
In the last year, ChargeNet has increased its fast-charging points from 285 to 358 in the previous 12 months and plans to open up to 30 new sites during 2024.
Sustained charging demand on the ChargeNet network over the summer has proven that the appetite for EV charging continues to grow in New Zealand. ChargeNet says it is committed to making proactive investments to support that growth.
ChargeNet will keep customers updated on what is changing at the sites on its website. Customers can visit www.charge.net.nz/auckland for more information.
In 2022, ChargeNet celebrated its millionth charging session since its inception in 2015. It expects to celebrate 2 million individual charging sessions within the following year.
