ACT leader crashes e-bike

ACT Party leader David Seymour fell off an electric bike in Auckland on Sunday while trying to avoid a car  

Seymour says he was abused while lying shocked on a traffic island. 

After leaving Holy Trinity Cathedral’s Commonwealth service on Sunday evening, Seymour was e-biking on Parnell Road when the incident occurred and told the NZ Herald he didn’t see an oncoming car which had right of way.

Seymour reportedly says he didn’t hit the car and wasn’t injured, although in shock and with a sore wrist, people in the vehicle and others checking on him.  

He says an unknown man started filming him and told him that sometimes people get what they deserve.

Seymour has had an e-bike for at least 17 years.

Former National Party leader and new Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency chair Simon Bridges broke his wrist and was taken to hospital in January after falling off an electric scooter when hitting a bump, vowing to never get back on one.
