Nissan withholds Ariya launch in New Zealand
Nissan has confirmed that it is withholding the launch of the Ariya in New Zealand due to the volatility in the local electric vehicle market.
According to Nissan Australia’s corporate communications manager, Emily Fadayev, the brand remains committed to bringing its electrified models to markets when it makes sense for the business and the customers.
She says further announcements will be made when available.
In February, Nissan New Zealand had previously confirmed the price and specification for a three-model line-up.
The front-wheel-drive single-motor 63kWh Ariya Advance and Engage variants were priced at $76,990 and $82,990.
The all-wheel-drive dual-motor 87kWh Ariya Evolve was priced at $109,990.
Auto Media Group believes a dozen Ariya vehicles were registered by Nissan New Zealand for demonstration purposes, and some have been driven by media outlets. Still, there is no dealer stock currently in the country.
