BYD to bring 15 new models to NZ

BYD Seal Goodwood

BYD aims to bring in 15 new models during the next 2.5 years for all people and become as popular as Holden in its heyday.

So says BYD Auto New Zealand brand manager Warren Willmot, adding the range will include sports cars, vans, people movers, and more SUVs and utes.

These will mainly be EVs and include some plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).

Willmot says BYD intends selling about 10,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in New Zealand annually.

He says the aim is to have a NEV for every Kiwi, including fleets, and to get to be the most popular NEV brand in the country.

Pointing to Australia’s BYD plans, Willmot says BYD also has big plans for New Zealand and to make the brand as popular in both countries as Holden was in its heyday, especially around quality, vehicles offered, and customer service.
