EV charging at one in four Z service stations

Z service station chargers

An EV charger is now at one in four Z service stations in New Zealand.

The transport energy company has about 145 charging bays at 48 of its service stations and is continuing to grow its public charging network, says Z chief executive Lindis Jones.

“We are building fast and reliable charging sites at select Z service stations in key areas of the state highway network,” he says.

“These well-located sites provide coverage alongside some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s major routes and offer customers on-site amenities and the ability to grab a coffee or bite to eat while they recharge.”

Z installs fast or ultra-fast chargers to help customers charge efficiently; and where there is room to do so has multiple charging bays at the selected site to help meet demand and reduce queuing.

“We’re also leveraging our technology to offer a seamless digital experience for EV customers, with access and payment for the chargers enabled via the Z App – the same app they can pre-order a coffee from,” says Jones.

“To have one in four Z sites now offering EV charging is an important milestone for us,” he says.

“Our plan is to have 150 EV charging bays live by the end of this year, in time for the summer road trip season.”
