Škoda Auto begins production of affordable Elroq EV
Škoda Auto has launched series production of its affordable Elroq EV at the company’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav.
To accommodate a daily output of up to 600 Elroq units, part of Octavia’s production was relocated to the Kvasiny plant last year.
The Mladá Boleslav plant also produces battery systems for these MEB vehicles. In addition to the new Elroq and updated Enyaq, the traction batteries are used in the electric models of other Volkswagen Group brands. In December 2024, the plant reached the milestone of one million battery systems produced.
Positioned as one of the most affordable offerings in its segment across Europe, the Elroq is priced at par with its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart in several markets.
It shares the same MEB platform as the Enyaq, which became one of Europe’s bestselling fully electric vehicles (EVs) last year.
The Škoda Elroq is the first fully electric model in the compact SUV segment and the first production model to adopt the new Modern Solid design language.
With a starting price of £31,500 in the UK, it is one of the most affordable vehicles in its class when factoring in its battery capacity and standard equipment.
The Škoda Elroq is available with three different battery sizes and powertrains. Outputs start at 125kW for the entry-level Elroq 50 model. The Elroq 85 can achieve a maximum range of 579km (360 miles) on the WLTP cycle. Charging rates of up to 175 kW at DC fast-charging stations enable the 82 kWh battery of the Elroq 85 to recharge from 10 to 80% in 28 minutes.
Demand for the new Škoda Elroq has been strong, with over 20,000 global orders received by the end of 2024.
