Ford to reimburse US dealers for installing EV chargers
The Ford Motor Company will reimburse US dealers up to US$240,000 over the next few years for signing up for its EV retail certification programme, which ended in July 2024.
According to Automotive News USA, the programme elicited pushback from most state dealer associations and several lawsuits from dealers who argued that Ford couldn’t legally withhold EVs from stores that did not sign up.
Ford, in response to requests by its US dealer council, is paying back retailers for investments made to sell the F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit.
The money can be received in several ways, depending on how many Level 3 chargers dealers installed or how many EV sales they recorded.
