WWCOTY names best cars of the year
EVs were among the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) International Awards presented in Madrid, recognising the best cars launched on the market in recent months in different categories.
Among winners were Mini, Kia, Audi, Hyundai, Toyota, Porsche, BYD and Volvo, who received recognition at an event that analysed the role of women and the automobile in an environment of uncertainty.
The Mini Cooper is the Best Urban Car while the Kia EV3 got the Best Compact SUV award.
The Audi A6 e-tron won Best Sedan and the Hyundai Santa Fe Best Large SUV.

Best 4×4 went to the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Porsche Panamera is named Best Sports Car, while the award for Best Technology went to the Blade batteries and the BYD DM system.
The Sandy Myhre Award for the brand most committed to women went to Volvo.
WWCOTY is an international organisation of women automotive journalists with a global audience of more than 500 million.
The jury, comprising 82 journalists working in 55 countries, votes to recognise the best cars of the year for aspects such as design, safety, efficiency and innovation, quality, price and environmental footprint.
Every jury member drives thousands of kilometres before casting their vote, says WWCOTY executive president Marta García.
WWCOTY was created by New Zealand motoring journalist Sandy Myhre in 2009, who remains honorary president.
