‘Affordable’ NZ-made EV charger launched
Christchurch-based EV smart charger manufacturer Evnex is launching two new products, one designed to appeal to consumers feeling the pinch due to tough economic conditions.
Evnex has unveiled the E2 Core for a launch price of $999 (RRP $1149), while the launch price for the E2 Plus is $1299 (RRP $1399).
The E2 Core will fill a gap in the market, providing a cost-effective solution at a time when economic pressures are top of mind, says Evnex chief executive Ed Harvey.
“We understand that in today’s economic climate, affordability is key for many EV owners,” he says.
“That’s why we developed the E2 Core, to provide a high-quality, reliable smart charging solution at a competitive price.
“We believe there is a gap in the market for a premium locally made product to take on some of the cheaper imported brands and we’re excited to see how it resonates with consumers.”
The E2 Core features home overload protection and enables users to schedule their charging for off-peak times, and for times when renewable energy is available.
It also offers solar diversion, allowing users to charge with solar energy.
Harvey says the E2 Plus builds on the Core model with colour options, a longer cable, local load balancing, and Tesla integration.
“The E2 Plus is our premium model, delivering cutting-edge technology and colour options for those who want the very best in smart charging.”
Both chargers maintain Evnex’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, with sleek, compact designs that fit seamlessly into any home environment.
“As the world’s slimmest EV chargers, the E2 Core and E2 Plus combine style, intelligence, and efficiency in a way that no other charger on the market can,” says Harvey.
“We’re proud to offer EV drivers a charging experience that’s world-class.”
The chargers deliver abut 50km of range an hour, at least four times faster than a three-pin plug, says Harvey.
Safety is also improved when compared with a three-pin plug, with every charger having its own dedicated feed from the switchboard.
The E2 Core and E2 Plus are available for order now, with the option of installation services provided by Evnex’s nationwide network
Evnex is the preferred charging partner for brands including Volkswagen, Volvo, Skoda, Cadillac, Cupra, Subaru, and LDV in New Zealand.
