East Auckland’s Ormiston Town Centre has joined the growing Plug and Save EV charging network, offering a new fast-charging hub for EV drivers visiting the popular retail and dining destination.

Located at 240 Ormiston Road in the Pak’nSave carpark, the four-charge-point site adds much-needed infrastructure to one of Auckland’s fastest-growing communities. The centre is a busy hub for locals, featuring a range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, a cinema, and community services.

A spokesperson for Ormiston Town Centre says the partnership with Plug and Save reflects a commitment to convenience and sustainability: “We’re pleased to provide more EV charging options for our customers, making it even easier for them to enjoy everything Ormiston has to offer.”

Plug and Save’s network is expanding rapidly across New Zealand, particularly among independent retailers, service stations and shopping centres seeking to attract EV customers and future-proof their businesses.

One of the key advantages is the hardware itself. Plug and Save’s 160kW fast chargers offer high average output and feature smart technology that reduces installation costs—ideal for smaller or remote operators where expensive infrastructure upgrades can be a barrier.

The user experience is also a focus, with chargers accepting simple payWave EFTPOS or credit card payments—no app, account, or RFID tag required.

Plug and Save managing director Deon Cooper says the approach is resonating with independent operators: “The ease of installation and high charger performance make Plug and Save a natural fit for businesses looking to offer reliable, fast EV charging without significant upfront investment.”

A limited number of fully funded chargers remain available in the current rollout phase.
