Tesla confirms Model Y Performance for New Zealand at $100,900
Tesla has confirmed New Zealand pricing for the facelifted Model Y Performance, with the twin-motor flagship variant set at $100,900.
The new Performance edition is the quickest Model Y yet, boasting a 0–100km/h sprint time of just 3.3 seconds. That makes it faster to the open-road speed limit than high-end performance cars such as the Porsche 911 GT3, BMW M5 and Audi RS6 — but at a fraction of the price.
Powered by a pair of Performance 4DU motors producing 343kW, the Model Y Performance is capable of a stated top speed of 250km/h. It eclipses the previous Long Range AWD variant, which produced 280kW and managed a 0–100 time of 4.8 seconds.
Tesla says the Performance model also introduces a new ‘high-density’ battery cell, enabling a maximum range of up to 576km despite the significant power increase. Adaptive dampers from the Model 3 Performance are fitted, retuned for the extra weight of the Y, along with a sports suspension set-up, staggered wheels and enhanced brakes.
Exterior changes include a more aerodynamic front bumper, rear diffuser, carbon fibre wing, sporty 21-inch alloys and red calipers. Inside, a 16-inch high-resolution touchscreen dominates the dash, while heated and ventilated front sports seats with added bolstering are fitted as standard.
