Fairfax marks one year of its electric refrigerated trailer
Fairfax Industries is marking the first anniversary of its fully electric refrigerated trailer, saying the unit has logged more than 1000 hours on the road and saved more than eight tonnes of carbon emissions in operation with Foodstuffs North Island Limited.
The truck and trailer body manufacturer, part of Action Manufacturing, says the first of its kind development is helping transform the way goods are transported across the country while reducing the environmental impact.
The idea for the technology originated from Action Manufacturing engineer Edd Collins in collaboration with Transcold New Zealand and Transpecs.
“One year ago today, a bold idea rolled onto New Zealand roads and changed the game.
“The Fairfax ZE wasn’t just built, it was imagined. One of our engineers dared to challenge the status quo, sparking collaboration across Fairfax, Transcold New Zealand, and Transpecs. That spark became a plan, and that plan became reality,” the company says.
“More than a launch, it was a statement that innovation and sustainability can, and must, lead the future of our industry.
“Thanks to Foodstuffs North Island Limited for believing in this vision and backing a product that was new, ambitious, and untested.”
Fairfax says a second unit entered service in June with Big Chill Distribution which has already clocked 396 hours and cut more than 3000kg of CO2 emissions.
