GAC releases specifications for its first NZ vehicles
Specification sheets for GAC’s first New Zealand models are live on the brand’s local website, outlining the all-electric Aion V SUV and the plug-in hybrid M8 people-mover.
Pricing is not yet listed, with local deliveries targeted for January 2026.
Positioned as the flagship, the Aion V uses a 75kWh LFP battery feeding a 150kW/210Nm front-axle motor. GAC claims up to 510km WLTP range, 180kW DC fast charging and a 10–80 per cent charge in 22 minutes.
The range will comprise Premium and Luxury grades. Standard kit includes 19-inch alloys, LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, 14.6-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay, 8.8-inch driver display and wireless phone charging. Safety features listed include adaptive cruise, autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assist.
Described as a seven-seat MPV, the M8 PHEV pairs a 2.0-litre turbo petrol with hybrid assistance for a combined 274kW/630Nm. GAC notes both standard and fast-charge capability but does not provide fuel-economy or EV-only range figures.
Two trims are shown — GL and GX — with 18-inch alloys, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment and wireless phone charging. Apple CarPlay/Android Auto are not listed. The active safety suite appears similar to the Aion V.

Meanwhile, the brand’s petrol only Emzoom is a small SUV powered by a 1.5-litre turbo rated at 145kW/270Nm, likely driving the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Features listed include 18-inch alloys, panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate and wireless phone charging.
GAC, a Chinese state-owned automaker, has yet to confirm New Zealand pricing for any of the three models. Further details are expected ahead of the planned January 2026 start for local deliveries.
