New 150kW EV chargers switched on in Geraldine
Geraldine has a new high-speed EV charging site, with Jump Charging and Meridian Energy completing the installation of four Tritium 150kW chargers in the Cox Street carpark.
The companies say the location is an important stop for both destination and journey charging, giving drivers faster top-ups and easier access during the busy summer travel period.
The project received support from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).
In a statement, Meridian says the installation supports its goal of building the country’s largest public EV-charging network.
“Meridian’s vision is to become Aotearoa’s largest EV charging network, and we’re excited that our new high-speed chargers are ready for drivers in Geraldine,” Meridian says.
“The 150kW Tritium chargers provide easy access to public toilets and are close to Geraldine’s many cafés and restaurants.
“This site can charge four vehicles at the same time and includes two oversized parks to cater for a wider range of electric vehicles – perfect for the upcoming summer holidays.”
Jump Charging and Meridian acknowledged EECA’s support and the work of installation crews who continued through winter to complete the site.
