Kia teases electric grand tourer concept
Kia is teasing a new electric grand tourer concept, releasing shadowed images that hint at what could be a spiritual successor to the discontinued Stinger liftback.
The brand is referring to the model only as “The Kia Concept”, but the fastback proportions, long-roof silhouette and performance-oriented stance have prompted comparisons with the former V6-powered Stinger. The preview images show a steeply sloped roofline, an aerodynamic streamliner profile and a shape that appears to end in a tailgate rather than a conventional boot.
A short front overhang suggests the concept rides on a dedicated EV platform, supporting expectations it will be a fully electric grand tourer. Overseas reports have pointed to a possible EV8 badge, though Kia has not confirmed naming.
The lighting signature features protruding LED strips that taper towards side-mounted cameras, while swollen guards give the vehicle an athletic stance. The absence of B-pillars signals its status as a pure design study, although elements such as its expansive glass roof could carry into a production model.
Industry watchers have speculated the concept could use the Hyundai Group’s upcoming eM platform, designed for longer-range electric models, or hardware shared with the Ioniq 6. Rear-wheel drive appears likely for base versions, with dual-motor all-wheel drive expected for higher-performance variants.
Kia says only that “a new future is on the horizon”. The brand is already preparing to unveil its entry-level EV2 at the Brussels Motor Show on January 9, though it has not confirmed whether the grand tourer concept will appear alongside it.
