Tesla upgrades Model Y screen
Tesla has confirmed that all inbound Model Y vehicles for Australia and New Zealand will now feature a larger 16-inch touchscreen and black headliner, upgrading two key interior elements across multiple variants.
The changes apply to entry-level Model Y RWD and Long Range AWD variants, with Tesla announcing the update via its Australian X account.
“Model Y now comes with black headliner + larger 16″ centre touchscreen in AU & NZ. Available on RWD and LR AWD trims,” the company posted.
Existing order holders have been notified of the changes via email, with Tesla confirming no further action is required from customers. The upgrade comes at no additional cost to buyers.
Performance variant already equipped
The recently launched Model Y Performance already features the larger screen, though it continues to arrive with the lighter headliner as that variant is built at Tesla’s GigaBerlin factory in Germany. The RWD and Long Range AWD models receiving the upgrade are manufactured at Tesla’s GigaShanghai facility in China.
The update was first announced for the Chinese domestic market before being extended to Australia and New Zealand.
