Geely EX2 tops China car market with more than 460,000 sales in 2025
Geely’s all-electric EX2 was the best-selling vehicle in China in 2025, topping all passenger car segments with sales of 465,775 units.
The small electric hatchback finished the year as China’s number one-selling vehicle overall, ahead of petrol, hybrid and electric rivals, underscoring the strength of demand for compact EVs in the world’s largest car market.
Developed on Geely’s Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA) platform, the EX2 shares its underpinnings with models including the Geely EX5 and the Super Hybrid Starray EM-i. The vehicle has been on sale in China for just over a year, moving from a new market entrant to segment leader within 14 months.
Geely says monthly sales of the EX2 have exceeded 40,000 units for seven consecutive months, with September 2025 recording more than 50,000 deliveries.
The EX2 is a rear-wheel-drive, five-door hatchback measuring 4135mm long, 1805mm wide and 1580mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2650mm. Geely says the packaging allows for more than 30 storage compartments throughout the cabin.
Geely Auto Australia confirmed in December it plans to introduce the EX2 to the Australian market in the second half of 2026. The model will join the Geely EX5 electric SUV and the Starray EM-i hybrid as part of the brand’s expanding local line-up. Although a New Zealand launch has not been announced, Geely New Zealand says it’s considering bringing the compact EX2 electric hatchback to the local market in 2026.
Further details on Australian specifications, colour options and pricing are expected to be announced closer to the vehicle’s on-sale date later this year.
