Apple design legend shapes interior of Ferrari’s first EV

Ferrari has revealed the interior of its first all-electric vehicle ahead of the full exterior unveiling, offering an early look at what is expected to be a significant shift for the Italian marque.

The four-door, four-seat model has been dubbed the Luce, with a full reveal expected in May.

Performance details remain unconfirmed, but reports suggest the EV could produce more than 730kW from four electric motors and accelerate from 0–100km/h in around 2.5 seconds.

Despite its name – “luce” translates to “light” in Italian – the reference is understood to be symbolic rather than literal, with the vehicle reportedly weighing just under 2.3 tonnes. The name is seen as a nod to electric power as a guiding light for Ferrari’s future.

The interior has been penned by Jony Ive, Apple’s former head of design, best known for leading the design of products such as the iPhone and iPad.

The cabin carries a distinctly minimalist aesthetic, with clean lines and restrained colour choices echoing Apple’s design philosophy.

A simple three-spoke steering wheel is said to draw inspiration from classic Italian racing wheels, featuring slim spokes. Indicator functions are integrated into arrow buttons on the horizontal spokes, while small pods house controls for systems such as cruise control and drive modes.

Ahead of the driver sits what appears to be a black panel incorporating three circular gauges. Ferrari says the panel itself is a screen, with three apertures for the gauges designed to increase contrast. The display is expected to be configurable.

The centre screen has been likened to an Apple Watch in both appearance and interface. It is mounted on a swivel mechanism and can be repositioned using a prominent handle beneath the display.

The centre console surrounds a gear selector with a design reminiscent of a driving simulator control, reinforcing the EV’s technology-led focus.

More technical details and final specifications are expected when Ferrari unveils the Luce in full later this year.
