Audi has unveiled an updated Q4 e-tron, bringing improvements to range, charging performance and in-car technology.

The upgraded Q4 e-tron, available in both SUV and Sportback body styles, features revised exterior styling, updated lighting signatures and a refreshed interior centred around a new digital interface.

Audi says the changes are aimed at strengthening the model’s position as an entry point into its electric vehicle line-up.

“With this product upgrade, the Audi Q4 e-tron is not only more modern and striking in appearance but also impresses with an improved interior,” the company says.

Efficiency upgrades to the electric drivetrain headline the update, with some variants now offering up to 590km of WLTP range. Charging performance has also been improved, with maximum DC charging capacity increased to 185kW on quattro models.

Under optimal conditions, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in around 27 minutes, while higher-spec variants can add up to 185km of range in around 10 minutes. The system also includes battery preconditioning to optimise charging speeds.

Audi has introduced bidirectional charging for the first time on the Q4 e-tron, allowing the vehicle to supply power to external devices via vehicle-to-load capability. In some markets, it also supports vehicle-to-home functionality, enabling the car to act as an energy storage unit.

Practicality has also been enhanced, with towing capacity for quattro models increased to 1800kg. Boot space remains at 520 litres, expanding to 1490 litres with the rear seats folded, while an electric tailgate is now standard.

Inside, the Q4 e-tron receives a significant digital upgrade, including an 11.9-inch instrument display and a 12.8-inch central touchscreen, with an optional passenger display.

The infotainment system has been updated with improved connectivity, including integration with ChatGPT for voice interaction, along with new ambient lighting and revised interior materials.

Exterior updates include new digital LED daytime running lights with customisable signatures and second-generation OLED rear lights designed to improve visibility. A proximity warning lighting system has also been added.

Pricing and specifications for New Zealand have yet to be confirmed, with the updated Q4 e-tron expected to reach global markets later this year.
