Ford confirms new Fiesta EV and off-road SUV plans

Ford has confirmed plans to launch five new passenger vehicles in Europe between 2027 and 2029, including a revived Fiesta EV, a new electric SUV and a rugged off-road model inspired by the Bronco.

The plans were outlined during a recent European dealer meeting in Austria as part of Ford’s new “Ready Set For” strategy aimed at reversing declining sales across the region.

Ford says European sales in 2025 were less than half of 2019 levels.

While detailed specifications have not yet been released, teaser imagery shown at the event revealed a new front-end design language expected to underpin Ford’s next generation of European electric vehicles.

The smallest model previewed is expected to be a fully electric Fiesta using Renault-sourced underpinnings, potentially sharing architecture with the Renault 5 and Alpine A290.

Ford also confirmed plans for a new electric SUV expected to replace the Puma. The vehicle is expected to measure around 4.2 metres long and will reportedly be developed as a dedicated EV from the outset.

Two larger SUVs were also previewed, although Ford has not confirmed where they will sit in the European market or what powertrains they will use. Reports suggest hybrid systems are likely.

The largest model shown appears to draw styling inspiration from the Ford Bronco, signalling Ford’s continued push into rugged SUV design.

Ford has not confirmed powertrain details for the off-road SUV.

The new vehicle range will be produced at Ford’s Valencia factory in Spain.
