Volvo EX60 priced for NZ

Volvo has confirmed New Zealand pricing and specifications for its new EX60 electric SUV ahead of customer deliveries beginning in November.

The EX60 range will launch with two variants, starting from $116,990 plus on-road costs for the rear-wheel-drive Ultra P6 and $125,990 plus on-road costs for the all-wheel-drive Ultra P10.

Built on Volvo’s new SPA3 electric vehicle platform, the EX60 becomes the Swedish brand’s longest-range production EV at launch.

The Ultra P6 offers a WLTP driving range of up to 611km, while the Ultra P10 extends that to 660km.

Power for the Ultra P6 comes from a single electric motor producing 275kW and 480Nm, delivering a 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds.

The dual-motor Ultra P10 increases outputs to 375kW and 710Nm, reducing the 0-100km/h sprint to 4.6 seconds.

Volvo says charging performance has been a key focus, with the EX60 featuring an 800-volt electrical architecture.

The company claims the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in as little as 16 minutes when connected to a 350kW DC fast charger, while up to 315km of driving range can be added in 10 minutes.

Volvo Cars New Zealand brand manager Daile Stephens says the EX60 addresses some of the key concerns motorists have about electric vehicles.

“The EX60 delivers on the true meaning of ‘Freedom to move’ for a fully electric era. It overcomes the three main reasons people hesitate to go all electric, range, charging speed and price.

“With up to 660 kilometres on a single charge and the ability to add 315 kilometres in just 10 minutes on a fast charger, the EX60 removes the last real hesitation for Kiwi drivers considering the switch to full electric.”

At launch, New Zealand buyers will be offered the flagship Ultra specification, featuring a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system with Dolby Atmos, an electrochromic panoramic roof, ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera system.

The EX60 also introduces Volvo’s latest safety and connectivity technology, including Google built-in services, over-the-air software updates and Google Gemini-powered conversational AI functionality.

Towing capacity is rated at 2000kg for the rear-wheel-drive P6 and 2400kg for the all-wheel-drive P10.

Volvo has also confirmed a higher-performance EX60 P12 variant with a claimed driving range of up to 810km will join the line-up during the second half of 2027.
