MG reveals MGS6 EV pricing ahead of NZ launch

MG has published pricing and specifications for its new MGS6 EV ahead of its arrival in New Zealand showrooms.

The electric SUV will be offered in two variants, starting from $56,990 plus on-road costs for the Essence RWD and $63,990 plus on-road costs for the Essence AWD.

Both models use a 77kWh battery pack and are built on MG’s Modular Scalable Platform.

The rear-wheel-drive variant produces 180kW and 350Nm, offering a WLTP driving range of up to 530km and a 0-100km/h time of 7.5 seconds.

Stepping up to the all-wheel-drive model adds a front motor, lifting outputs to 266kW and 540Nm. Range drops to 485km, while the 0-100km/h sprint falls to 5.1 seconds.

Both variants support DC fast charging at up to 144kW, with MG claiming a 10% to 80% charge can be completed in 38 minutes. Other features include an 11kW AC onboard charger, heat pump, vehicle-to-load capability, one-pedal driving and adjustable regenerative braking.

The MGS6 EV measures 4708mm long and rides on a 2835mm wheelbase. Boot space is rated at 581 litres, expanding to 1690 litres with the rear seats folded.

Standard equipment includes a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 50W wireless phone charging and an 11-speaker audio system.

Heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, 360-degree camera, 20-inch alloy wheels and MG’s full suite of driver assistance technologies are also included across the range.

The all-wheel-drive model gains a panoramic glass roof with electric sunshade.

Towing capacity is rated at 1500kg braked and 750kg unbraked for both variants.

MG says the MGS6 EV is covered by up to 10 years or 250,000km of warranty when serviced through the MG dealer network, comprising a seven-year unlimited-kilometre warranty plus a three-year service-activated extension.

The pricing places the MGS6 EV below several established rivals, including the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7 and Kia EV5, while also undercutting MG’s own premium IM6 electric SUV range.

The MGS6 EV is expected to arrive in New Zealand showrooms in the coming weeks.
