Ford claims Pikes Peak victory with 1043kW electric Mustang Mach-E

Ford has claimed overall victory at the 2026 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb after its all-electric Super Mustang Mach-E recorded the third-fastest time in the event’s history.

Driven by Romain Dumas, the purpose-built electric racer completed the 19.9km course in a time of 8:18.202, giving Ford its second overall victory at the famous hill climb and Dumas his sixth Pikes Peak title.

The Super Mustang Mach-E is a one-off racing prototype rather than a production vehicle, featuring a three-motor electric powertrain producing 1,043kW and aerodynamic enhancements capable of generating up to 5.4 tonnes of downforce.

Pikes Peak’s summit sits 4,302m above sea level, where thinner air reduces the performance of internal combustion engines, giving electric vehicles a significant advantage as they maintain full power throughout the climb.

Ford Racing demonstrator programme engineer Zach Burns says another year of development allowed the team to unlock the car’s full potential.

“It feels great to finish the business we started last year and show what this vehicle is truly capable of,” Burns says.

“Another year with the vehicle allowed us to understand it more deeply and fine-tune every area. Even with the repaved sections and changing track conditions, the team adapted quickly, improved the car and delivered on the targets we set.”
