MG upgrades MGS5 EV and cuts prices
MG Motor New Zealand has upgraded the MGS5 EV while reducing prices across the range by $2000.
The biggest changes apply to the flagship Essence 62kWh variant, which receives a new B-Axial electric motor, increasing outputs from 125kW and 250Nm to 151kW and 350Nm.
WLTP driving range has also increased from 425km to 465km, while the model gains a new interior trim.
Despite the improvements, the recommended retail price has been reduced to $52,990 plus on-road costs.
The entry-level Essence 49kWh retains its existing powertrain but also receives a $2000 price cut, bringing its price to $46,990 plus on-road costs.
The updated MGS5 EV arrives alongside the launch of the new MGS6 EV, with MG saying the two models strengthen its electric SUV lineup.
MG Motor New Zealand country business manager Dean Sheed says the changes are aimed at improving value for customers.
“At a time when cost of living pressures are shaping household decisions, we’re proud to offer New Zealanders genuine choice,” Sheed says.
The updated MGS5 EV is available from MG dealerships nationwide.
