Geely EX5 gains 245kW rear-drive option and 800V charging in China
The updated Geely EX5 adds a 245kW rear motor, an 800-volt system and a 160-litre front boot on higher grades in China.
Geely’s updated EX5 electric SUV will be offered in China with a more powerful rear-wheel-drive layout and an 800-volt electrical system on higher grades, along with a front boot and revised styling.
The biggest change for the 2027 model is a 245kW motor on the rear axle, 85kW more than the 160kW front motor used in the current car. The entry-level version keeps the front-drive layout and 400-volt system.

According to Car News China, the rear-drive versions come with 60.22kWh, 61.52kWh and 70.01kWh batteries, for reported WLTP ranges of 429km, 446km and 514km.
The 800-volt models are also reported to support “6C” charging, a rate equal to six times the battery’s capacity. Australian outlet Drive estimates that could mean a peak of around 420kW for the largest battery and a 10 to 80% charge in 10 to 12 minutes, but Geely has not quoted official figures for either.

The update adds a 160-litre storage space under the bonnet and replaces the pop-out door handles. Outside there is a revised front bumper with matte chrome detailing and new 19-inch wheels.
Inside, there is a new three-spoke, flat-bottomed steering wheel and the option of brown upholstery. The 15.4-inch touchscreen, digital instruments, wireless phone charging, panoramic sunroof and Flyme audio system carry over.

In New Zealand, the EX5 is sold with the 160kW front motor and DC charging at up to 100kW. The range starts with the EX5 Complete at $49,990 plus on-road costs, and the Inspire Extended Range costs $56,990 with a 68kWh battery and 450km of WLTP range. Geely has not said whether the updated car will come here.
