Citroën teases electric 2CV ahead of Sunday reveal
Citroën has teased its electric 2CV revival, due to cost less than €15,000 in Europe, ahead of its reveal on 11 October.
Citroën has released more teaser images of its electric 2CV revival, ahead of the car’s reveal on Sunday, 11 October.
The new 2CV is expected to become the brand’s entry-level car, sitting between the Ami quadricycle and the C3 supermini. Citroën has previously said it will cost less than €15,000 in Europe.

Citroën chief executive Xavier Chardon says the 2CV is intended to give “buying power” back to European motorists, describing it as “a true people’s car designed for real life” that “will democratise electric mobility”.
The latest images show several links to the original “Tin Snail”. Dome-shaped headlights sit high on the front wings, and ridged strakes on the bonnet recall the panels of early 2CVs.

An open air duct between the bonnet and front wings references later versions of the original car. The large steel-style wheels wear Michelin tyres, another nod to the past given the tyre company’s involvement in developing the first 2CV.

Citroën has designed the 2CV with the European Union’s proposed E-car rules in mind. The proposal would encourage sales of small electric cars built in the EU.
“The future of mobility will not be won by the most complex cars but by the simplest and the most intuitive ones,” Chardon says. “What truly matters is to be relevant.”

The car will be one of the attractions at the Paris motor show, which opens to media on 12 October. Citroën has not released technical details, and there is no word on whether the 2CV will be sold outside Europe.
