The Jaecoo J5 EV has won a 2026 Australian Good Design Award in the Product Design, Automotive and Transport category.
The awards are run by Good Design Australia and date back to 1958. Entries are judged by a jury of more than 100 Australian and international design experts.

The jury singled out the J5 EV’s pet-friendly interior, which Jaecoo says uses TÜV SÜD certified cabin materials. “The Jury recognises the Jaecoo J5 EV for its research-led approach that addresses a genuine gap in the electric vehicle market through pet-friendly design innovation,” the jury said. It also commended the exterior design, material choices and the car’s price point.
Roy Munoz, Jaecoo Australia and New Zealand chief commercial officer, said the car started with the question of what families need from an electric car. “For a lot of households, the answer includes their furry friends. So, we built a cabin that can handle muddy paws and everyday life, at a price that puts EV ownership within reach of more people.”

The J5 EV is Jaecoo’s first fully electric model in New Zealand and Australia. It had recorded 150 New Zealand orders by April, and Gavin reviewed it on video later that month.
