Electric Volkswagen ID. Tiguan confirmed for NZ in 2027
Volkswagen NZ has confirmed the electric ID. Tiguan for 2027, replacing the ID.4 and sitting alongside the petrol Tiguan.
Volkswagen New Zealand has confirmed the electric ID. Tiguan for 2027. It replaces the ID.4, which will be discontinued, and will be sold alongside the existing petrol Tiguan.
Volkswagen confirmed the name last month. The ID. Tiguan is a major update of the ID.4 rather than an all-new model.

Volkswagen says the redesigned cabin has more physical controls for key functions, alongside updated technology. Powertrain, battery and range details have not been released.

Tiguan is Volkswagen’s best-selling passenger model in New Zealand, and more than 8.3 million have been built worldwide, making it the brand’s global best-seller.
“As our best-selling vehicle locally, Tiguan has earned a strong reputation with Kiwi customers over many years,” said Volkswagen New Zealand general manager Chanelle McDonald. “The introduction of ID. Tiguan is significant because it extends that success into the electric vehicle space.”

New Zealand pricing, specification and more precise launch timing will be announced closer to arrival.
